Second Seymour, Indiana 812.522.8608 Russell Ackeret SEYMOUR Russell Ackeret, 69, of Seymour, passed away Monday, Aug. 26, 2013, at his residence surrounded by his loving family after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born Dec. 15, 1943, in Seymour, he was the son of Harry G.

and Myrtle (Russell) Ackeret Sr. On Feb. 14, 1982, in Seymour, he married his valentine, Susan Motsinger. Russell was a member of New Life Assembly of God. He had been employed with Cummins retiring in 1999.

Russell was the founding commander of the local chapter of the Royal Rangers. He was an avid fan of Indiana Hoosier basketball. He liked the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. His greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his friends and family. Besides his wife, Susan, he is survived by his children, David Ackeret, Barbara (David) Wyatt, Debra Ackeret, Justin (Crystal) Ackeret and Jamie Ackeret; seven grandchildren; one great- grandchild; brothers, Eddie Ackeret, John Ackeret and Scott (Betsy) Ackeret; and sisters, Janet (Curtis) Ziegler, Marcia (Byron) Merrick and Brenda (Ricky) Collins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Harry G. Ackeret and a sister, Sharon K. Houser. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Voss Chapel, Seymour.

Shirley McDonald SEYMOUR Shirley McDonald, 89, of Seymour, formerly of Indianapolis, passed away Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013, at Schneck Medical Center. Born Nov. 19, 1923, in Seymour, he was the son of Joseph and Vesie (Jackson) McDonald.

He married Ethel Cole, who survives. Shirley proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a contractor. Survivors include his children, Ron (Sharon) McDonald, Kathy King, Larry (Sandy) McDonald and Jennifer (Sinclair) Wheeler; and grandchildren, Greg McDonald, Kristin McDonald Campbell, Matt McDonald, Sinclair Patrick Wheeler, Lora Pelzek, Kimberly Myers, Stacie Roberts, Tammy Fateley, Ron McDonald Jr.

and Josh McDonald. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lois Payne; and brothers, Milton McDonald, Roy McDonald, Harold McDonald, Clarence McDonald, Ray McDonald and Duane McDonald. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Voss Chapel, Seymour. Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery with full military graveside rites conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled Veterans 47, Korean and Vietnam Veterans, all of Seymour.

26, 2013, at Hanover Health and Rehab in Hanover. Born April 25, 1947, in Seymour, he was the son of Kenneth and Mertie (Frost) McFarlin. On June 24, 1969, he married Linda Gorski in Pittsburgh. She survives. Curtis was a U.S.

Army veteran, having served during the Vietnam War. He was a former city of Seymour employee. He enjoyed bowling, softball and baseball. Survivors include his children, Curtis (Kellie) McFarlin Tammy Jo (Chuck) Dixon and Timothy McFarlin; several grandchildren; and a brother, Billy Joe McFarlin. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Shannon Lee McFarlin; and a brother, Robert Gene McFarlin.

Eleanor Jolene Reed NORTH VERNON Eleanor Jolene Reed, infant daughter of William David and Chasty Sweet Reed, passed away Aug. 1, 2013, at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis. www.dovesharprudicel.com Jared R. Rude COLUMBUS Jared R. Rude, 27, of Columbus, passed from this life at 11:15 p.m. Monday, Aug. 26, 2013, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.

Jared was a 2004 graduate of Seymour High School, earned an associate degree from Vincennes University in 2006, earned a degree from Kelley School of Business at Indiana University in 2008 and in 2011 earned a degree from the University of Phoenix. Jared was a financial analyst at Rose Acre Farms and a member of The Ridge in Columbus. He was a die-hard Indiana University fan. Jared had a true passion for golf, and he played on the Vincennes University golf team. He was the first Vincennes golfer to compete in a national championship event.

Jared was a loving father and husband and a true inspiration to all who knew him. Born in Paris, on May 1, 1986, he was the son of Richard L. and Donna M. Myers Rude. He married Leslie A.

Foutz on Sept. 20, 2012. Survivors include his wife, Leslie; his parents, Rick and Donna Rude, Seymour; stepson, Nolan; brother, Ryan J. Rude, Seymour; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and mother-in-law, Lonnie Sponsler of Seymour. Jared was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bob and Dorothy Rude and Donald and Betty Myers.

A celebration of life will be at 1 p.m. Friday at The Ridge, 2800 N. County Road 350E, Columbus, with Dan LeClerc officiating. A graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Garland Brook Cemetery in Columbus.

Stiening NORTH VERNON Curtis L. Stiening, 86, of North Vernon, passed away at 4:45 a.m. Monday, Aug. 26, 2013, at Silver Oaks Health Campus in Columbus. Curtis served his country for 23 years in the U.S.

Army until he retired in 1967. During his time of service he was involved in the European Theater during World War II. The funeral will be at 7 p.m. today, at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral and Cremation Service in North Vernon. Visitation will be from 4 p.m.

com Martha Wehmiller SEYMOUR Martha (Weber) Wehmiller, 76, of Seymour, formerly of the Crothersville and Tampico area, passed away at 8:05 a.m. Monday, Aug. 26, 2013, at her home. Born Feb. 26, 1937, in Seymour, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Weber and Virginia (Greene) Collins.

On May 16, 1959, in Seymour, she married Marlin L. Wehmiller. He preceded her in death on Feb. 18, 2010. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Seymour and Coffee Creek Conservation Club.

Survivors include five children and their spouses, Linda Smith, Marcia (Kenny) Lynn, Jennifer Jo (Hal) Montgomery, Teresa (Barry) Short and Lucinda (Harry) Howe; eight grandchildren, Courtney Justin Lynn, Victoria (Jason) Poole, Charity (Tanner) Street, Jake Stice, Jarod Wince, Tristan Short, Trea Short and Brandy (Larry) Burdine; and nine great- grandchildren, Rhonda Parks, Tyson Henson, Nichloas and Joseph Zagata, Britney Butler, Angel Katelynn Poole, Gabriel Lee Poole, Delaney Jo Street and Kaisac Stice. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Payton; and two granddaughters, Tiffaney Stice and Tammy Riley. The Rev. Jimmy Rodriguez will conduct the funeral at 11 a.m. Saturday at Adams Funeral Home in Crothersville, with burial to follow at Russell Chapel Cemetery.

Rude, 27 ACKERET DONALD WEHMILLER RUDE The Associated Press NOBLESVILLE A large gas grill exploded Monday outside a central Indiana church, killing a man operating the barbecue at the time, authorities said. The explosion at Grace Community Church in Noblesville was felt by others preparing for a cookout, Police Lt. Bruce Barnes said. The cause of the blast was not immediately known. still looking into the reasons why.
