Last week we did part one of two, Homemade Cayenne Pepper Infused Oil. This week we show you How to make Homemade Cayenne Pepper Muscle Rub Salve. We will, as we mentioned, use the Cayenne Pepper Infused Oil that we showed you how to make last week.

To make Homemade Cayenne Pepper Muscle Rub Salve

You will need:

1. ¼ cup of The Cayenne Infused Oil

2. Peppermint Essential Oil 50 drops

3. Ginger Essential Oil 20 drops

4. Lavender Essential Oil 20 drops

5. ¼ cup of Wax Pastilles

6. ¾ cup of Carrier Oil Grape Seed

1. Melt the wax pastilles on the stovetop.

We use a regular cooking pot but you can use a double boiler if you like. It will only take a minute or so for the wax to melt.

3. In a small bowl combine the Peppermint, Ginger, and Lavender essential oils.

The peppermint will give you a cooling feeling. The Lavender helps relax. And the Ginger does a bit of warming but also helps activate the other essential oils and the Cayenne.

4. Add the essential oils to the warm pot on the stovetop. Mix a bit to combine the oils and melted wax.

5. Add the Cayenne Infused Oil to the pot.

This is the Homemade Cayenne Infused Oil you made.

The Cayenne is what gives you the warming part of this rub.

6. Gently mix well. Make sure the oils are all well combined with the melted wax.

7. Pour mixture into prepared containers.

Be careful when handling and pouring the hot mix. If you are using metal tins like we do, keep in mind, the hot mix will make the tins hot as well.

8. Allow the mixture to cool completely.

Once your newly made Homemade Cayenne Pepper Muscle Rub Salve is completely cool, put the top on the container.

Keep your Cayenne Pepper Muscle Rub Salve in a cool, dry place until you need it.

9. Use as needed for sore muscles.

Use this salve as a muscle rub to help soothe sore muscles. To use, apply a small amount to the “offending” muscle and gently but vigorously rub it in.

This Homemade Cayenne Pepper Muscle Rub Salve will give you a warming sensation along with a cool tingle.

DO NOT get this into your eyes, nose, or mouth. This is for external use only. Be sure to wash your hands well after applying.

Although the ingredients in Homemade Cayenne Pepper Muscle Rub Salve are safe to use with kids, this salve may be too hot for them. If you are going to use it with kids, be very careful that they do not get it anywhere else or get it on their hands.

As with all new topical remedies, test it on a small area to be sure you will not have a bad reaction to it before you use it on a large part of your body. If you have a bad reaction, immediately wash with soap and warm water to get it all off. Most people have good results with this salve but it is always best to lean to the safe side.
