General Notices

ATTENTION STAFF AND SENIORS!!!!
The SRC’s annual Staff vs Senior events have begun! This coming Friday (April 19th) during the lunch hour we will be hosting a Finish the Lyric competition ranging from the 70s-today’s music, with emphasis on the 2000s/2010s in the Cafeteria! The Staff vs Senior events range from trivia to athletics so don’t worry if this one is not for you, we have much more to come! Teachers sign up through Mr. Bode, Seniors sign up on Mrs. Buzinski’s door! We are limiting 5 per team so first come first serve, and make sure if you sign up you are free for THIS FRIDAY DURING LUNCH and will attend!

Parking at the school

Students MUST NOT park in the staff parking at any time. Staff come in at various times and it is important their spots are available for them. Please give yourself extra time in the mornings to find suitable parking. STUDENT VEHICLES PARKED IN STAFF PARKING WILL BE TICKETED. Thanks for your cooperation.

Morning prayer and smudge

Looking to pray and start your day in a good way, come to Room 100 Mr. Kendry's room for a smudge ceremony every day at 8:15 a.m.

Yearbook Notice

The timeline to purchase a yearbook has been extended to April 30th, 2024. Please see Mrs. D’Souza in the main office to purchase one if you are paying cash, cheque or debit OR you can also purchase one onwww.myschoolbucks.ca (Store Option) and pay with a credit card. Don’t wait as this will be the last opportunity to buy one, you don’t want to miss out!

Student Media ReleaseForm

Please fill out our GSCS Media Release form.Only 80% of students have a media release form completed so far. The form must be filled out by a parent/guardian; one per student attending Holy Cross:https://forms.gle/YSC27HBVHK6BKMV6A. IF THIS FORM IS NOT FILLED IN, YOUR STUDENT WILL NOT BE IN THE YEARBOOK.

Homework Hall Tutorial

Would you like some help from a teacher with your homework in a quiet space? Homework hall tutorial time takes place each lunch hour in Room 341 (Mr. Heath's room). All students are welcome to attend!

Graduation

Graduation List – *UPDATED*

The graduation list has now been updated. Grade 12’s please look at the graduation list located outside of student services on the wall.

Names of all students have been taken directly from their Application for Graduation as inputted by the students. If you inputted your name incorrectly on the application under the Name as to Appear on your Certificate field and would like it changed, please see Mrs. Street in the main office.

Students whose names are highlighted in YELLOW must see Mrs. Street.

There is a Tenor/Bass choir practiceTODAYin the theatre at lunch.

Yearbook

We will meet EVERY THURSDAYin the Mac lab at 12:10. There is a lot of work to do! Next Thursday is a half day but we will still meet at 12:40 to get work done.

Clubs

Senior Hiking Trip 2024

Attention all Grade 12's, it is finally that time of the year for our first meeting about the Senior Hiking Trip! This year we will be hiking through Jasper National Park! We will meet on Thursday, April 18that lunch this week in Room 373 (Mr. Wihak) to discuss the details of the trip and the timeline of events. If you cannot attend, you must speak to Mr. Wihak this week to get the information and forms.

Debate Club

There will be a meetingTuesdaysin Room 103 at lunch for those interested.

ROSARY GROUP- after a month break, we are meeting Mondays after school in Room 249. Looking forward to seeing you all there.

Athletics

TRACK AND FIELD!!– Athlete Registration is ON NOW!! This will be a bit different from last year – starting today, you can register using the QR code posted on Coach Veszi and Coach Dale’s doors. You can also register on Tuesday and Wednesday. Then:

Thursday, April 18- right after school please gather for the Athlete Safety PPT, and our first team meeting – location TBA.

Friday, April 19- will be a fitness Bootcamp run by Coach Veszi to get us ready-to-go for practices which will start on MONDAY, APRIL 22.

Stay tuned for specific practice dates and times which will be announced on Thursday at the Team Meeting. Let’s get ready to defend our City title – get registered, then see you at the Team Meeting on Thursday. St Sebastian, pray for us!

Wrestling

Attention all wrestlers, a reminder that our year-end banquet will be happening this Friday at The Cave to celebrate our season! Please arrive at The Cave around 5:00. Please indicate in the Edsby group poll if you will be attending so we can get an accurate number for food!

School Nurse

Our school nurse, Tori Meijer will be hereWednesday afternoons from 12:30 pm – 3:30 pm. The school nurse can help you with the following:

  • Confidential one-on-one student supports with medical & health related matters.
  • Referrals to other community agencies/supports
  • General first-aid
  • Confidential pregnancy testing and other supports as needed

Students can also text the school nurse at 306-230-2483. Look for the school nurse sign in the hallway and stop in to say hello!
